ECU City Campus

Edith Cowan University (ECU) traces its roots back to 1902, originating with the establishment of Claremont Teachers College. The institution evolved through the 20th century, becoming a comprehensive university in 1991 following the amalgamation of several tertiary colleges. It was named in honour of Edith Dircksey Cowan—the first woman elected to an Australian parliament—whose pioneering commitment to education, social justice, and equality remains emblematic of the university’s values.ECU holds the distinction of being the only Australian university named after a woman. Notably, her image appears on the Australian $50 note, and her former home has been reconstructed on ECU’s Joondalup campus as the Peter Cowan Writer's Centre

The City Campus offers excellent opportunities for research, innovation, and collaboration with industry partners. Students benefit from a vibrant urban environment, supportive community, and access to cutting-edge technology that enhances learning and career prospects.
